I have been creating recipes with Turmeric as I heal from inflammation, as turmeric is a wonderful natural anti-inflammatory. Apple Cider Vinegar is an awesome health tonic, both internal and external, and I prefer raw honey because it does not contain fructose. I also add in a bit of coconut palm sugar as this type of sugar has a low glycemic index.
Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory food, and has great antioxidant effects. It is known as a superfood! In fact, Gingerol, the bioactive substance in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infection, and ginger extract can inhibit the growth of many different types of bacteria.
1/4 cup Olive Oil
1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
2 tsp. fresh ginger
2 Tbl. turmeric paste (see recipe below)
2 Tbl. Raw Honey
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. Coconut Palm sugar
Put all ingredients into a food processor and blend thoroughly.
Recipe for Turmeric paste:
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup turmeric
Put water into a small saucepan with turmeric until its a paste. Add more water, if needed. Cook on medium low for about 6 minutes.
