I have been fighting inflammation, and unable to digest whole foods, so I have been creating smoothies full of anti-inflammatory ingredients, and some phytonutrients that are dried and concentrated.

When you are struggling with illness, you need to increase probiotics, (we should all be taking a probiotic every day as part of managing good gut health) and anti inflammatory foods/spices/herbs, and phytonutrients, such as Spirulina, for energy, so I have created this recipe to heal myself, and to share it with you! Chlorella is another great superfood which is also a phytonutrient. You can add your probiotic powder right into the smoothie if you desire.

I usually add almond butter into my smoothies, but only had Tahini in the house. Tahini is high in unsaturated fat (the good fat!) it’s rich in minerals such as phosphorus, lecithin, potassium, magnesium, and iron, a great source of calcium, it has 20% complete protein, making it a higher protein source than most nuts, its easy for the body to digest because of the high alkaline mineral content, helps to promote healthy cell growth, and is a good source of Methionine, which aids in liver detoxification which is especially important when we are healing!

“Spirulina is a natural “algae” (cyanbacteria) powder that is incredibly high in protein and a good source of antioxidants, B-vitamins and other nutrients.” It is considered one of the most effective superfoods.

Turmeric is a great natural anti-inflammatory. Follow my recipe below to create your own paste, and use it in my homemade salad dressing and turmeric milk! (Use the search bar at blissfullyglairyfree.com for these recipes.)

Turmeric Paste

1/2 cup water
1/4 cup turmeric
Put water into a small saucepan with turmeric until its a paste. Add more water, if needed. Cook on medium low for about 6 minutes.

Raw Cacao powder is an awesome form of antioxidants!

Mix all of the following ingredients into a blender or Nutri-Bullet, and enjoy the healing and the yummy taste!

2 cups almond milk
1/2 teaspoon raw, organic Spirulina powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric paste (see below)
1/2 teaspoon raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon tahini or almond butter
1/4 teaspoon raw honey, optional
1/2 banana, organic and/or 4-6 organic strawberries
4 ice cubes

Sprinkle cinnamon on top!

To your good health!
